Just east of Waupun on Highway 49, you’ll find a paved, three-mile, loop through the marsh which is open to cars, bicyclists and hikers, as well as walking trails where you can get up close and personal with some of Wisconsin’s unique flora, fauna and photo ops. Don’t miss the floating boardwalk for an amazing stroll like no other. Access to the trail is free and open daily from dawn to dusk. Whether birding, learning, or just soaking it all in, nature lovers will delight in a stop at Marsh Haven Nature Center. It’s open to visitors, and houses interactive exhibits and informational displays. Catch their Birds of Prey program for an eye-opening visit with the magnificent raptors that call the marsh home.

HIT THE TRAILS

Outdoor enthusiasts and adrenaline junkies can get their thrills hiking, bicycling, and exploring our extensive park and trail systems. All trails are part of the nationally acclaimed Rock River Trail system, which runs 320 miles from its headwaters in Waupun to the Mississippi River at Rock Island, Illinois. Specific trails within the well-identified system are designated for bikers, hikers, paddlers, airplane pilots, art enthusiasts, history buffs, and even chocolate lovers!

The nearby limestone path of the Wild Goose State Trail can be accessed just east of Waupun and can be used for hiking, biking, jogging, and cross-country skiing. This 34-mile rail trail skirts the western edge of the Horicon Marsh from Fond du Lac to Clyman Junction.
