The Long Lake Recreation Area nestles along the east shore of Long Lake. From May–mid-Oct, the 200-site campground beckons campers to enjoy a relaxing stay. On this larger lake with a boat launch, motor boats are allowed for all sorts of fun water sports. Swimmers can take a dip at one of two beaches and picnickers can enjoy lunch while watching the shimmering waters of the lake. For those hardy souls, the Summit Trail up and down Dundee Mountain highlights the glacial features of the area. The Lake-to-Lake Bike Trail leaves Long Lake for a 6.6-mile journey to the Mauthe Lake Recreation Area.
Pet-friendly picnic areas are available and dogs are allowed on most trails as long as they are on a leash. Dogs may access the water via the boat launches only when boats are not loading or unloading and must remain on a leash at all times. Dogs are not allowed on the swimming beaches.
