Back by popular demand! Join Dr. Daniel K. Young, UW-Madison Professor of Entomology, for an engaging presentation on the beetles in the family Pyrochroidae, which are also sometimes called Cardinal beetles. Pyrochroidae, fire-colored beetles (not to be confused with fireflies), is a small, generally overlooked family represented by 33 genera and about 250 species throughout the world. Dr. Young will provide an overview of the taxonomy, natural history, and distribution of the four genera and 15 species found in the north-central region of North America and offer some thoughts relating to their conservation needs.
