DESCRIPTION:Back by popular demand! Join Dr. Daniel K. Young\, UW-Madison Professor of Entomology\, for an engaging presentation on the beetles in the family Pyrochroidae\, which are also sometimes called Cardinal beetles. Pyrochroidae\, fire-colored beetles (not to be confused with fireflies)\, is a small\, generally overlooked family represented by 33 genera and about 250 species throughout the world. Dr. Young will provide an overview of the taxonomy\, natural history\, and distribution of the four genera and 15 species found in the north-central region of North America and offer some thoughts relating to their conservation needs.

DESCRIPTION:Come on a sunset and full-moon walk on the dike in Eldorado Marsh on Sunday evening. At this time of evening\, there should be an opportunity to see and hear the birds in the marsh. The moonrise is 5:18\, and sunset is 5:54 pm. \nMeet in the parking lot at the end of Dike Road on the east side of Eldorado Marsh. If you put the exact address into your GPS\, it will take you PAST the Dike Road entrance. We have to use an exact address to post things\, but it will take you past the parking area. Bring binoculars\, wear good shoes\, and dress warmly. \nWe will cancel the event if the skies are overcast.
