Susan Fiebig | THELMA Reading Series

July 30 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

FREE

The new THELMA Reading Series, inspired and guided by the former Lake Reading Series, Foot of the Lake Reading Series, and Foot of the Lake Poetry Collective, will host published writers to read their work. For our sixth reading of 2024, we welcome collage artist, nonfiction author, and memoirist Susan Fiebig. Join us for a reading and conversation with Susan on her latest book, A PERFECTLY IMPERFECT LIFE. The event is free and open to the public.

Susan Fiebig lives in a small apartment in Wisconsin overlooking a field, two horses, and a perfect view of the sky. A mixed media collagist, she has exhibited her work in galleries throughout the United States and Europe. Her published work includes WITH EVERY FALLING STAR, a book of poetry, ADVENTURES ON THE BLOODY TRAIL, a guide to the best Bloody Marys in Wisconsin, and OUR TOWN-A PHOTOGRAPHIC JOURNEY-FOND DU LAC, a companion chapbook to her photo exhibit.

About A PERFECTLY IMPERFECT LIFE: At age 10, a little girl loses the most important person in her young life. Devastating words spoken by a parent at the most fragile and vulnerable moment in the child’s life leaves the little girl with the overwhelming belief that happiness will always be followed by tragic loss. For decades, well into adulthood, she sabotages her own well-being in the misguided conviction that she is protecting those she loves. Through her own inner strength, she is able to begin a process of healing, knowing that it will be the only way she might find the happiness she has denied herself since childhood. Her story is one of remarkable courage, resilience, and recovery.
