Gottfried Prairie and Arboretum

Forty acres include wildlife pond, interactive trails, walking paths, monthly education programs and volunteer opportunities. Located at UW-FDL, the Arboretum is composed of 37.5 acres of native prairie.

Serves as an outdoor recreation facility including about 0.8 miles of walking trails and an established interpretive trail with 12 signs introducing visitors to the prairie.

Great for bird watching, bicycling, cross-country skiing, hiking, sledding, and snowshoeing.

Throughout the day there will be many fun and interesting programs including environmental or nature presentations demonstrations, a butterfly release for the kids, electric vehicle show, and a prairie wildflower hike. Don't forget about the Prairie Kidzone where kids can create a variety of nature crafts and play games.  Area vendors and artists will also be on hand to sell a number of different items relating to nature.
