Greek Fest
Sunday, May 20, 2018
Hosted by Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, Greek Fest provides the authentic Greek experience in the Fox Valley.
We invite the public to come and join us and enjoy an afternoon of delicious, authentic Greek food, Greek pastries, music, and children's games.
Live entertainment, a Greek Market and much more will make this an enjoyable family event.
Enjoy a day of Greek music and dancing, authentic Greek cuisine, and a wonderful time had by all. Start out your adventure by sampling these Greek selections: roast leg of lamb dinner, a new item on the menu; Greek-style chicken with rice, pastitsio (Greek-style lasagna), gyros, souvlaki (shish kabab), spanakopita (spinach pie made with spinach, filo dough, feta cheese, and spices). Don't forget to get some flaming saganaki (cheese prepared and flamed to the order). For the not so Greek appetite, try one of chili John's Coney Dogs. Beer, wine, soda, and coffee will be available.
After your meal, tempt your sweet tooth with mouth-watering Greek pastries prepared by Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church Society: Baklava, the king of all Greek pastries is a combination of nuts and spices between layers of filo dough and topped with honey, diples- fried dough which is rolled thin and fried topped with nuts, honey, and cinnamon sugar; kourabiethes (koobies), a butter cookie immersed in powdered sugar, koulourakia- a braided cookie, and paximathakia- Greek biscotti. Loukoumathes, Greek honey puffs is another favorite. These Greek-style doughnut holes are dipped in honey and topped with cinnamon sugar. Other Greek pastries, homemade bread along with non-Greek pastries are baked by other members of the Greek community. After your meal, enjoy the Greek music played all day.
Don't forget to check out the Agora, the Greek marketplace where Greek food items and other novelties which are not available in Fond du Lac can be purchased. Do come and spend a day of fellowship at Greek Fest. OPA!
