Price: Free Admission!

Nautical Night is the theme for the Fond du Lac Symphonic Band's third Buttermilk Festival concert on Wednesday, July 24. The performance will begin at 7:15 p.m. at the Wifler Performance Center in Buttermilk Creek Park. Under the direction of Music Director Dale Shipe, the program will feature trumpet soloist Patrick Disterhaft playing La Vergin da le Macarena. Sopranos Nazia Delica Gohr and Alexandra Zulauf will sing Mozart's Canzonetta sull'aria from "The Marriage of Figaro" and the Flower Duet from Delibes' opera "Lakme." Both singers are graduates of Fond du Lac High School.

Zulauf has completed Bachelors and Masters degrees in Voice Performance and performed in numerous opera and oratorio productions. Delica-Gohr received her BFA in Vocal Performance at UW-Milwaukee and has been involved in operatic and musical theater productions with Skylight Music Theater and Fond du Lac Community Theater.

Music with a nautical connection include selections from South Pacific, Guadalcanal March from Richard Rodgers' Victory at Sea, a movement from Handel's Water Music, Sea Songs by Ralph Vaughn Williams, and Percy Grainger's Spoon River. Also on the program are Robert Smith's North Bay Vistas, Montego Bay - a samba by Sammy Nestico, and Under the Sea from The Little Mermaid.

Completing the concert fare are two marches: Die Wacht Am Rhein (Watch on the Rhine) and Hands Across the Sea by Sousa.

The Symphonic Band's Buttermilk Creek Park concerts are sponsored by the City of Fond du Lac, along with free-will offerings that are received during each concert. In the event of unsuitable weather, the performance will be held at the Recreation Building at the County Fairgrounds.
